Motionless in White Reigns on Top Hard Rock Albums, Hot Hard Rock Songs Charts

Motionless in White tops two Billboard charts dated Aug. 1 — the Top Hard Rock Albums and Hot Hard Rock Songs tallies — following the release of new album Decades.

Decades bows at No. 1 on Top Hard Rock Albums thanks to 30,000 equivalent album units earned in the United States in the week ending July 23, according to Luminate. That sum includes 18,000 in album sales, including 8,000 vinyl copies.

The rockers nab their fourth No. 1 on Top Hard Rock Albums. After first reigning with 2014’s Reincarnate, they topped the survey with Graveyard Shift in 2017 and Scoring the End of the World in 2022 prior to the reign of Decades.

Decades also starts at No. 15 on the all-genre Billboard 200, the band’s third top 15; its best remains the No. 9 debut and peak of Reincarnate.

Concurrently, “Fight Like Hell,” one of the newly released songs from Decades, debuts at No. 1 on Hot Hard Rock Songs largely on the strength of 1.8 million chart-eligible streams. Two versions of the song appear on Decades: a Motionless in White-only edition and one featuring the band OUTLIER.

Motionless in White now boasts four Hot Hard Rock Songs No. 1s since the tally’s 2020 inception, all of which are featured on Decades. “Afraid of the Dark” reigned first in February for two weeks, followed by “Playing God,” featuring Corey Taylor (one week in May) and “R.I.P.,” featuring Skylar Grey (three weeks beginning in July).

All four of the songs rank in Hot Hard Rock Songs’ top five for Aug. 1, and in all, Decades sports 12 of the chart’s 25 positions. That’s tied for the second-most in a single week by any act, alongside Metallica’s 12 on the April 29, 2023, survey. HARDY leads all acts with 13 toward the July 27, 2024, list.

The 12 charting songs from Decades include a cover of Corey Hart’s 1984 No. 7-peaking Billboard Hot 100 hit “Sunglasses at Night”; Motionless in White’s version ranks at No. 9 on Hot Hard Rock Songs (989,000 streams, 1,000 downloads). It’s the first time a cover version of the song has reached one of Billboard‘s U.S.-based rankings.
