After it had been threatening to be a one-horse race, the 2026 Formula 1 season has really come to life following Lewis Hamilton's victory last time out. Next up is the Austrian Grand Prix (June 26-28) and a feeling that just about any outcome could be on the cards at the Red Bull Ring.

Austrian Grand Prix 2026: Schedule & Streams

  • Race Date: Today (Sunday, June 28)
  • Start Time U.S. (ET): 9 a.m.
  • Start Time U.K. (BST): 2 p.m.
  • Start Time Aus (AEST): 11 p.m.

Kimi Antonelli had opened up a 66-point gap as the teams headed to Spain. Then he received a rude awakening that winning the Drivers' Championship isn't quite the cakewalk he imagined when his overtaking maneuver on teammate George Russell backfired and the 19-year-old limped to a stop with five laps to go. That allowed seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton to storm to his first win in a Ferrari, and take 25 points off the standings deficit.

With leading times in Q1 and Q2 on Saturday, Antonelli could only manage the fourth fastest lap in the crucial Q3, letting Russell, Charles Leclerc and Hamilton (in that order) in front of him. Austria is one G.P. though that overtaking is possible, so the full range of the youngster's skills will be put to the test today.

It's sure to be a gruelling 71 laps for all drivers as the temperatures cross the 90-degree threshold combined with the possibility of torrential rainfall.
