3 best new to Netflix shows you should binge-watch this weekend (July 31-Aug. 2)
It's the final weekend of July, folks, which, yes, sadly means that we're closer to the end of summer than the start of it, but also that an entire month of new streaming releases is graciously ahead. There's plenty of fresh films and buzzy TV series coming to Netflix in August 2026, but before you deep dive into the streaming service's new offerings, let's make sure you're not missing anything great that premiered in late July.
This weekend's the perfect opportunity to catch up on several newly released series on the platform, including an old gory favorite making its long-awaited return to Netflix (hint: you "Fannibals" will be pleased!). There's also a six-part British drama detailing the 1988 disaster of Pan Am Flight 103, which is the deadliest terrorist attack in British history, as well as a Mexican micro-drama that tackles teen bullying and toxic relationships.
So before you start exploring all of the new additions coming to the platform this August, here are three new-on-Netflix you need to have on your watchlist this weekend. Consider your couch-binge plans sorted!
'The Bombing of Pan Am 103'
On December 21, 1988, flight Pan Am 103 was traveling from London's Heathrow Airport to New York's JFK when a bomb exploded in its hold, killing 270 people and marking the deadliest terrorist attack ever on British soil. Across six episodes, this British miniseries recounts that real-life tragedy and the massive investigation that followed in the town of Lockerbie, Scotland, as Scottish police and U.S. law enforcement banded together to uncover who was behind the attack.
At the center of the harrowing Netflix dramatization are Connor Swindells as Scottish Detective Sergeant McCusker, Patrick J. Adams as FBI Special Agent Marquise, Merritt Wever as Kathryn Turman (a special assistant to then-Pennsylvania senator John Heinz) and Eddie Marsan as FBI Special Agent Thurman.

'Final Project'
The latest in the streamer's ongoing exploration of the short-form genre, this Mexican micro-thriller series packs a lot of story into its 7-to-10-minute episodes. The teen-focused series centers on Tamara (Daniela Martínez Caballero), a transfer student at the private Campos Academy, who becomes the target of anonymous online abuse from a person who seemingly knows about her past.
Tensions heighten even further when not only is she partnered on her final school project with Xavi (Tristán Maze)—a popular student at the school and one of Tamara's regular tormentors—but she also begins to develop feelings for him. Things get even more complicated when that body in the truck gets revealed.

'Hannibal'
Great news for fans of chilling horror, stylish gore and buzzy homoerotic tension: "Hannibal" is back on Netflix! Yes, five years after the previous streaming license expired, the award-winning psychological thriller and its three deliciously macabre seasons officially returned to the platform on July 27, letting fans revisit—or experience for the first time—the twisted dynamic between FBI profiler Will Graham (Hugh Dancy) and cannibal psychiatrist Dr. Hannibal Lector (Mads Mikkelsen).
Based on the Thomas Harris novels (which also inspired "The Silence of the Lambs"), the Bryan Fuller-created drama received plenty of critical acclaim over its original run, especially for its lead performance and Emmy-nominated visual style. The series has an overall 93% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, where critics praised its "polished presentation of madness."
